I’ve got some pretty big life changes on the way, namely the birth of my first child, so my normal way of working in the studio is about to drastically change. With that in mind, I recently made the decision to completely rework my studio and workflow, switching from a desktop 2020 iMac to a more portable laptop. My biggest concern with this swap was power and storage concessions due to price.
I opted to go for an M2 Macbook pro and today I’m going to go over my thoughts after using it for a month as my main work computer as a professional musician and podcast producer. In that time I’ve used it to compose tracks for media projects, live streamed music production and podcasts, edited videos and performed a live set using logic with multiple midi outs and audio ins to and from hardware In this video, we’ll discuss the specs, the reason I got a laptop, the price/if there are any power concessions, connectivity/whether 3 USB c-s are enough and finally a performance test using as many instances of U-He’s Diva as possible.
